Coaching & NLP:
Coaching involves an initial session face to face to determine compatibility re working together, to determine what you want and to create a plan that details how your goals will be achieved. It then involves one or two 30-minute sessions per week, as appropriate, to support, motivate and overcome barriers to progressing that plan. This can be done on the phone until the desired goals are achieved.
NLP works with habitual patterns of thinking, it helps you recognise old patterns that are no longer helpful and assists you to create new patterns of thinking and behaviour that lead to your desired outcomes. It provides an ideal set of coaching tools to work out what you really want, how to get there, and how to overcome obstacles that appear along the way.
What is NLP?
- Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) is an approach to communication, personal development, and psychotherapy created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in California, United States in the 1970s.
- There are 3 levels of qualification: Practitioner, Master Practitioner and Trainer.
- It is a field concerned with studying and modelling human performance and excellence and attempts to build transferrable skill sets.
- It is based on the assumption that the unconscious mind may be programmed like a computer through the use of language, as well as through images, sounds and other sensory input.
- The basic premise of NLP is that the words we use reflect an inner, subconscious perception of our problems. If these words and perceptions are inaccurate, they will create an underlying problem for as long as we continue to use and to think them. Our attitudes are, in a sense, a self-fulfilling prophecy.
- It is a process of guiding a client to review current thoughts, behaviours and linguistic patterns. By discovering personal patterns and removing self-induced limits, new levels of awareness and personal effectiveness can be achieved.
- NLP is the ideal coaching and/or developmental tool. When used well, it can create major changes in very short spaces of time and often can be applied with no disclosure of issue content.
